Philanthropic Activities

One of your requirements as a BMCF member is to participate in at least one philanthropic event each year.  Below is a list of some philanthropic events we are planning for the coming year and how you can help. If you have questions about any of these events, please reach out to the Philanthropic chair.  

MEMBERSHIP YEAR:  SCHOOL AMBASSADOR

  • Distribute items to assigned school when needed (i.e. posters, signs, etc.).

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER:  ANNUAL COAT DRIVE

  • Distribute collection boxes at designated locations.
  • Check box regularly, empty when full and collect box at end of Coat Drive.
  • Sort items on date set by chairperson.

DECEMBER:  BATAVIA CHRISTMAS FAMILIES

  • Members volunteer to shop with provided gift cards from the club to buy gifts for Batavia United Way adopt-a-family program.

MAY:  ANNUAL DISBURSEMENTS

  • Members  are encouraged to attend the annual disbursement meeting to determine which organizations receive funds from BMCF, and then attend the actual disbursement in May.

Community Relations Activities

One of your requirements as a BMCF member is to participate in at least one community relations event each year.  Below is  a list of some possible community relations events. If you have questions about any of these events, please reach out to the Community Relations chair.  

SUMMER:  FARMERS MARKET

  • We will have a booth at the Farmers Market and you would be responsible for working the event and helping to run a kids craft.  

JULY:  DIAPER DERBY

  • During Batavia’s Windmill City Festival babies ages 6 to 15 months crawl their way to victory.

SEPTEMBER:  PIE BAKE OFF

  • The community registers and competes at the Batavia Block Party over Labor Day Weekend.  Slices of the pies are sold as a fundraiser.

OCTOBER:  BAT FEST

  • Bat Fest is a community event that kicks off the Halloween season in Batavia.  The fun begins at the Library, where the library hosts storytime. Then parents and children, led by BMC members, parade their costumes through downtown to the Batavia Riverwalk.  
  • We also have a booth with a simple craft at Batfest.

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER:  CHRISTMAS  TREE LANE

  • BMC members decorate a tree that will be part of the Winter City Festival in Batavia. 

MEMBERSHIP YEAR:  MEMBERSHIP OPEN HOUSES

  • Help organize and attend an Open House to meet potential members and encourage them to join the Club.
  • Dates of Membership Open Houses will be determined by the Membership Chairperson.
